This story commences two days after the point where Mary Renault’s North Face ends; all references to material happening during the period of one week covered by the book actually do appear in the book.

(This, by the way, is the Newton Abbott lynx of 1903, but I gather it was a Canadian one, which had evidently been in captivity for some time - shades of Lord Pabham’s hyaena.)
